The London Business School Student Impact Investing Fund (SIIF) is excited to announce our maiden investment in Thinkerbell Labs, an innovative education technology company building new solutions to make education more inclusive and accessible. Developed by four passionate engineers from India’s premier engineering university BITS Pilani in 2016, the team develops products to improve learning outcomes for the visually impaired, operating both in India and internationally. There are ~400 million visually impaired people in the world. Braille literacy is ~10% globally, and an even more abysmal 1% in India. Thinkerbell Labs provides an innovative technology solution to tackle this long -standing problem. Annie, the company’s flagship product and world’s first Braille literacy device, helps the visually impaired to learn, read, write, and type in Braille. The company has also developed Helios, a content and analytics cloud-based suite, that allows students to learn Braille and progress based on their understanding, parents to track their performance and teachers to track progress and assign lessons. Thinkerbell Labs has been the recipient of several awards and honors including winning the Dell Startup Challenge and 3rd prize at the Global Social Venture Competition.

LBS SIIF joins a group of established investors, including Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group; Let’s Venture; reputed angel investors from India’s first Shark Tank and the Indian Angel Network. The company will utilize the funds for business development and its expansion efforts in India and international markets.
